I’m so frustrated. Just how frustrated am I? Well…
- I’m retired from the military, and I had to wear my uniform again, just because there were Officers and Enlisted there. I didn’t even have my belt on right, and my uniform wasn’t even fit right!
- I forgot about someone’s birthday, and just found out the evening before!
- There are always things blocking me from getting where I want at the mall!
- I was playing my guitar with others, and I couldn’t get the chords or the words right!
- I forgot to wear pants again!
- I forgot my homework!
- I couldn’t stop my car from plowing forward!
- The enemies are too hard in this game I’m playing!
- I was bitten by a rat!
- I can’t seem to stand up straight when I’m standing at attention!
- My dad wasn’t listening to me!
- My dad can’t understand anything I say!
Maybe You Guessed
But these are all excerpts from dreams that I’ve had from the past year or two. For me, frustration dreams happen a few times a month. I think they stick out more than others due to their emotional nature. I’ve even got some frustration dreams (not listed above) that got me really, really angry — like, cursing out loud angry.
Themes
School and work themes pop up a lot when talking about dreams. I believe the environments in dreams reflect the areas of your life you put the most emotion into. My most prominent themes are:
- Military (I’m retired)
- Video Games (I spent a LOT of time on these over the years)
- Music
What a coincidence, the above themes ALSO have had frustration dreams dealing with them.
What’s The Point?
The point is that if I’m generally angry or frustrated throughout the day, during my time awake, there’s probably a reason. If I’m paying attention to what’s going on in my life, I’ll likely be able to address it. If the intellectual mind can’t figure out why, then try this: Maybe realize that what things have enough impact in life — enough to affect emotion and overall mood — are probably enough to make an emotional impact in dreams.
